What type of concealer suits you?

We’ve already written about how to remedy and avoid those dark under eyes and eye bags, while you’re working on that, we want to share how to find the best kind of concealer for an instant fix.

Concealer 101: Concealers are color corrector make-up used to cover up pimples, dark spots and even scars on the skin, especially the face.

There are different types of concealer available in the market. While there are brands that work like magic, some are only appropriate for certain skin types or specific parts of the face.

Water-based concealers are best for people with oily skin and those who tend to have acne breakouts (since its alternative oil-based make up usually clogs the pores). But if you have dry skin, it might be best to use oil-based concealers to keep the face moist and supple. Oil-based make up also has thicker coverage and will last longer.

Touch up those roots! Review: HBC’s Hair Color Touch-ups (P100+)

Coloring your hair can be fun and for some, it’s a necessity. However, maintenance can be expensive. My mom, for example has to have her hair colored at the salon every month or so and have the roots retouched every three weeks.

Luckily, I found a quick fix and alternative to dying her roots. This stopped her from fretting everytime she has that important meeting and she doesn’t want her gray roots sticking out.

I was browsing products at one of HBC’s stores and I discovered their exclusive and affordable Hair Color Touch-Ups. It’s a temporary fix (washes off) but at least her retouches are quicker and didn’t involve real hair color (yep, she mixes a portion of hair dye everytime she covers up those roots).

Get rid of your dark under eye circles and eye bags

I’m one of those people with huge, dark under eye circles ever since I was a kid. Eye bags only come when I don’t get enough sleep or I just finished crying. Although eye bags and dark under eye circles are two different things, nobody wants to have either or both of these.

Dark under eye circles are caused by lack of sleep, stress, fatigue, deficiency, or plain bad genes. Eye bags are caused by excessive crying, stress, high sodium intake, allergic reaction, consumption of alcohol, sinus problems, irritation from contact lenses, or, again, heredity. But worry not, because there’s a lot of ways to lessen them.

Dark circles

Hydrate. Drink lots of water. I prefer to drink plain water and avoid sports drinks. Sports drinks are not only expensive, they also have excess calories.

Avoid eye strain. Don’t stare too long on the computer! Rest your eyes by taking a nap, sleeping early, or moving them away from the PC.

Have enough sleep. At least 7 hours of sleep is fine with me. To check your minimum required amount of sleep, go to bed early and sleep straight without turning on the alarm clock. Count the hours from the approximate time you’ve fallen asleep to the time you woke up uninterruptedly – that’s your least required hours of sleep.

Picking the best swimwear design and color

If you read our Knowing Your Body article, you'd know which skin tone you fall under. So for the majority if the Filipinas out there, we (yes, I'm one of you haha) fall under the Brown Skin tone. This is the color that celebs try hard to get. We can virtually get away with any bikini color.

However, there are colors that will make your skin look all the more stunning. For morenas, best colors would be maroon, aquamarine, black, navy blue and purple.
