Home remedies for soft, smooth, and glowing skin

Isn’t it great to have a glowing, smooth, and soft skin? A spotless or pimple-free face, for example, provides a very good canvass before applying makeup. More importantly, a naturally glowing face translates to a good overall wellness and health.

The problem is, not all of us are blessed with great skin that still looks impressive even without the help of a fussy beauty regimen. However, there are some ways to liven up your skin:

Start with feeling good inside. Exercise, drink plenty of water, and eat a proper diet. Remember to get enough fresh, clean air circulating in your body. Of course, have a regular check-up. Who knows, something’s wrong with your health and messing up your skin.

Wear sunscreen. Choose one that doesn’t cause allergies or pimples. A sunscreen with SPF 15 will do.

Don’t scrub your face everyday. Throw away facial wash with tiny beads that tend to scratch skin, causing it to breakout. You shouldn’t also scrub your back with similar soaps. To avoid breakouts, try using feminine wash. Just rub it on your chest area, back, and face and it’ll help weaken the zits. If you really can’t wash without scrubbing, try to lessen this routine and do it once a week.

Make your own skin scrub at home. Mix coarse salt or sugar with olive oil and calamansi extract. I prefer mixing in a 2:1 ratio or 100% salt or sugar plus 25-50% liquid mixture. Before bathing, scrub it on your elbows, knees, and other dark spots. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes. After rinsing with water, your skin will feel softer and smoother, which is just a natural effect after every salt scrub. You can also use the scrub for softening your palms. You can lather on soap first, if your skin is dry and sensitive. Other alternative is 3 teaspoons baby oil and 2 teaspoons sugar, for the palms.

Create an all-natural facial mask. Apply honey or honey and egg white mixture on your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash face with cold water. If you choose to pick the egg white and honey mixture, make sure to wash with a delicate soap afterwards to remove offensive smell from the egg white.

Dab on tea tree oil. Visit your local cosmetics store and look for products with tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is an effective scar and stretch mark remover. Beware though, some are allergic to the oil so I recommend you try it first on your inner wrist area before buying. If it doesn’t cause reaction within 24 hours, then buy it. I use Sensa toner with tea tree and buy it at Watsons. It’s just Php100.

Cheers to a fabulous glowing skin!
