What type of concealer suits you?

We’ve already written about how to remedy and avoid those dark under eyes and eye bags, while you’re working on that, we want to share how to find the best kind of concealer for an instant fix.

Concealer 101: Concealers are color corrector make-up used to cover up pimples, dark spots and even scars on the skin, especially the face.

There are different types of concealer available in the market. While there are brands that work like magic, some are only appropriate for certain skin types or specific parts of the face.

Water-based concealers are best for people with oily skin and those who tend to have acne breakouts (since its alternative oil-based make up usually clogs the pores). But if you have dry skin, it might be best to use oil-based concealers to keep the face moist and supple. Oil-based make up also has thicker coverage and will last longer.

Powder concealers are popular right now, especially with the trending of mineral make up. You can use it over or under your foundation and according to its avid fans, it actually has good coverage, but not for very dark blemishes. It leaves you with that natural look.
Another popular type is the cream concealer. These usually come in the form of a pot or stick (like a lipstick). These are thick and heavier and provide full coverage. However, some brands are hard to blend because of their consistency and would usually stand out. These are often used for under eye dark circles. You may also encounter tube concealers which can be classified as both liquid and cream concealer (not as light as liquid but not as heavy as cream).

Liquid concealer is applied like liquid eyeliner using a wand (like the one used for liquid lip tint or gloss). It has good consistency and coverage but works better with dry skin. Then there’s the pen concealer which comes in the form of a pencil or a highlighting pen. These are perfect to cover fine lines, small skin imperfections and lip lines.

So there's the low-down on the different kinds of concealer. Hope you find the right pick. :)

keep you skin blemish free,

I personally like #7 YSL touche Eclat! Lightens undereye and doesn't sit on creases and wrinkles like most of the concealers! Have been using it for 4 years now. Tried and tested.

I mostly use #2 concealer. Sometimes I do use liquid concealers giving me an awesome finish for my make up.
