Knowing your body (shape, size and color)

Not all of us has that coveted hourglass figure but if you are able to embrace your own shape and size and wear clothes that complement your figure, men will surely look your way.

The following are the things that you should know about your body:

1. Body Shape - the first step is to analyze your body.

There are several different bodyshapes for women, such as:

Apple - This is a round shape, sometimes thicker in the waist, especially after menopause.
Hourglass - Women with this shape tend to have larger breasts and a short waist.
Skittle - The Skittle body shape is long and slim on the top half, but widens considerably at the bottom. Unlike the Pear shape with a large rear, the Skittle shape has larger thighs.
Vase - The Vase is basically a stretched out Hourglass. However, the Vase shape does not go in and out as much as the bottom is somewhat flatter.
Cornet - Usually, women with this athletic shape are tomboys in their youth. Later in life, curves are not as prominent and a triangular shape emerges.
Lollipop - Women with this shape have buxom breasts and seemingly endless legs, yet can feel ungainly at times. Shoulders lack the broadness necessary to support large breasts; therefore, people with this shape tend to hunch with bad posture. The short waist increases the top-heavy appearance.
Column - The Column body shape is tall. After menopause, it is difficult to keep the tummy tight and long limbs are difficult to accommodate.
Bell - Small, petite body with a round rear that tends to spread in middle age. As the Bell shape individual ages, the bottom half becomes disproportionately larger.
Goblet - This heavy, square shape seems to balance on a slender stem. The Goblet-shaped individual typically has large breasts, broad shoulders, shapely legs and ankles as well as a generous waist.
Cello - Broad shoulders, large breasts and endowed thighs and buttocks.
Pear - Women with a Pear shape may be thin, but the ballooning thighs and undefined calves and ankles set it apart from other slender shapes. The breasts are usually small. Arms are slender and toned with muscular shoulders and a small waist.
Brick - This is a masculine shape, especially from behind with a flat bottom, no waist, straight legs and broad shoulders.

2. Body size- as Tim Gunn always says, "too many women wear the wrong size and its unflattering!"

A. Height
    *petite - would refer to ladies who are 5'4" and below in height
    *tall - would refer to ladies who are 5'6" and above in height

B. Bra size (get the right bra size)

1. Measure the band size (this is the number you see when you choose a bra ei., 34B). To measure, enclose your body, under your arms, with the measuring tape; above your chest,  if its an odd number, add 1 to determine the band size.
2. Measure the cup size (This is the letter that you see when choosing a bra size ei., 34B ) measure loosely at the fullest part of your chest. Then, deduct the band size from the bust size. The difference would be equal to the cup size.
ex: (bust size) - (band size) = cup size

36-34=2

1"= A
2"= B
3"= C
4"= D

3. Different skin tones

I. Light
II. Fair or Light Skinned (European)
III. Medium, Dark Skinned (European)
IV. Dark intermediate, Mediterranean or Olive
V. Brown
Check this article to determine your skin tone

4. Assets (legs, waist, chest, arms, neck, butt)

Which is your favorite body part you'd like to enhance or show? As they always say, when you got it, flaunt it. Please make sure that you don't go looking as trying too hard.

5. Part of your body you are not comfortable of showing

Of course, if there are body parts that we want to show, there are some parts we'd like to hide.

When you have all this information, everything else follows. You'll be able to check and choose the right design, color and size for you. It will aslo help if you have a celebrity which you believe has the same body type, skin tone/coloring and size as you. Celebrities always tend to look good even in their grocery clothes to be ready for the camera.

But what is the most important thing aside from all of these? You should feel and look comfortable and good in what you are wearing. This all in all would give you confidence.

keep on flauntin' your figure,
- J
